ANDY REID has revealed that Gardner Minshew will step in as the Kansas City Chiefs' supporting quarterback for Patrick Mahomes this season.
The defeated Super Bowl finalists are hoping to make up for their defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in the new campaign.

And they will need star man Mahomes to be at his very best.
Last term saw Carson Wentz step in as backup in 2024.
He made three appearances in the regular season and departed after the Super Bowl.
But now, it's Minshew who will fill one of the most crucial roles in the Chiefs' squad.
The 29-year-old has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles and Indianapolis Colts during a glittering career.
And last year saw him turn out 10 times for the Las Vegas Raiders.
It's reckoned that Minshew could even be good enough to give Mahomes a run for his money, potentially driving the superstar to another level.
Chiefs boss Reid certainly feels that Minshew has what it takes to succeed.
Reid declared: "Minshew's been there – he's started, so he's got that.
"He's got the confidence of the guys around him.

"Patrick knows he's been in there and done it, so they can bounce things off of each other.
"It's always good to have peers that have played, and you can talk to them about it a little bit.
"I think on game day he'll be great with Patrick, just with what he's seeing from the sideline and what Pat's seeing when he's in there."
