Demi Lovato is ready for the future with fiancé Jordan "Jutes" Lutes.

The singer, 32, opened up about her relationship with Lutes, 33, in a new interview with Teen Vogue, revealing that she "instantly had a crush" on the Canadian songwriter.

"I live and breathe for our connection," said Lovato, who uses she/they pronouns.

"Everything I do, I wish I was with him. I see my future with him. I see growing old with him," they added.

The star — whose directorial debut Child Star hits Hulu Sept. 17 — first met Lutes in January 2022, when they co-wrote Lovato's song "Substance." Lutes also shares writing credits on their songs "Happy Ending" and "City of Angels," all off her eighth album Holy Fvck.

The couple went public with their romance in August 2022, and were engaged in December 2023 after a "personal and intimate proposal" in Los Angeles, a rep for the singer told PEOPLE at the time.

In their interview with Teen Vogue, Lovato said that the two plan to have children together, but not yet, as they're "not ready to give up my alone time with [Jordan]."

"I don't even want to share their faces in pictures on Instagram when they're born," they said. "I want them to have that anonymity… I share a lot with the world and I just want some things to be mine."

The "Skin of My Teeth" singer recently opened up about her connection with Lutes.

"What makes me happy and brings me peace now are the relationships in my life. I'm an introvert, but I do love to co-regulate with people that are really important to me," she said. "First and foremost, my fiancé, but my best friends, my family, my dogs... I value and I cherish love so much in my life. It means more to me than anything because that's really truly what life is about: love."

Lutes, meanwhile, celebrated his fiancée's birthday in August with a sweet carousel of Instagram photos that called them "my whole world."

"You deserve nothing but happiness and love because that's what you give to everyone you meet," he wrote. "For someone that has done so much in life already I'm always so inspired by how much you push yourself to learn new things and take on new roles…. You're truly unstoppable and I'm so lucky I get to watch you grow from up close."

Lovato responded in the comments, saying that the best part of her birthday was "knowing that this year I get to marry my soulmate."
