Cain, whose real name is Hayden Anhedönia, shared a link to a Google document on Wednesday where she addressed online rumors accusing her of past racist comments and other gross behaviors.

The American Teenager singer admitted to making disturbing jokes on an anonymous Curious Cat account in 2018, and said, “I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart.”

“This was a chapter of my life I look back at shamefully,” she wrote.

The singer explained that when she was in high school, she stood out from her peers by being a “social justice warrior” but made a stark u-turn after graduating.

She said that she got involved with a problematic online community after moving out of her parents’ home and tried to impress them by making edgy and hurtful remarks.

Cain said that she wouldn’t make excuses for her behavior, and said, “any way you feel about me moving forward is valid.”

“At the end of the day I am white, so while I can take accountability for my actions, there's no way for me to fully understand the way it feels to be on the receiving end of them,” she wrote.

“All I can say is that I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart, to anyone who read it then and to anyone reading it now. Any way you feel about me moving forward is valid.”

The singer went on to hit back at the online trolls and said they devised a coordinated effort to hack her accounts and get access to the screenshots through “extensive digging” and “hacking.”

She said, “There is no justice sought by this group” and accused them of craving “the emotional destruction of me as a person.”
