AN MLB star can say he’s the son of a mother who’s a famous actress who starred in a classic baseball movie.
The MLB player stars for one of the most recognizable teams in the world.
The Chicago Cubs‘ offense has been producing at a historical pace so far in the 2025 campaign, and it’s led by a 23-year-old up-and-coming star.
Outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong has been one of the biggest breakout players in the MLB.
The former first-round pick has 10 home runs, 11 doubles, and 11 stolen bases while also being arguably the best defensive center fielder.
However, Crow-Armstrong might not be the most famous person in his family.
His mother, Ashley Crow, currently holds that title thanks to her acting work in Hollywood.
And among baseball fans, she’s famous for playing the mom of 12-year-old Billy Heywood in the movie Little Big League.
The 1994 movie is about Heywood, who’s given the role of a Minnesota Twins owner and manager.
The film came out eight years before Crow-Armstrong was born.
He recently opened up about how his mother influenced his baseball career just as much as his father, Matthew John Armstrong, who’s also an actor.
“She was just out there with me in the yard just as much as my dad," Crow-Armstrong told MLB.com last week.
“I know that's not really the case for a lot of people.
“My mom and my dad played softball together in their actors’ league.
“She was pretty in tune with how baseball was played.”
Crow’s also appeared on hit movies which include Steve Spielberg’s Minority Report and the 1993 thriller Good Song, which stars Macualay Culkin and Elijah Wood.
She last appeared in a film in 2014.
Crow now has her full attention on her only child, Pete, who made his MLB debut with the New York Mets, his drafted team, in 2023.
Crow-Armstrong, who was once MLB’s 12th-best prospect, has since been traded to the Cubs and is now playing in his first full season in the big leagues.
Due to his stellar performance so far, Crow-Armstrong will likely be the most famous person in his family this summer if he earns a trip to his first MLB All-Star game.
His Cubbies sit in first place in the NL Central with a 25-18 record.
