The Chiefs quarterback remains in the hunt for a fourth triumph and motivation to chase down Tom Brady‘s seven appears to be high.
In a video posted to social media by the team, Mahomes dropped a hint he is ready for a better season than ever before.
The clip showed the 29-year-old dusting himself down, flexing his bicep and then letting out a roar.
And in a warning to the rest of the NFL, the caption was: “Year nine won't know what hit it.”
Mahomes has been with the Chiefs for eight seasons and he has made the Super Bowl five times.
Since he took over from Alex Smith as the QB in 2018, they have made the AFC Championship every year.
And fans are confident Mahomes will be back to his brilliant best come the start of the new season in September.
One said: “Yep, we're going back to the Super Bowl.”
Another added: “Wow man still in awe that he's our QB.”
A third wrote: “Everyone assumes we will be so bad this year. Can’t wait until we get to the Super Bowl to show the haters.”
