New Chargers ace Harris ended up suffering an injury to his eye in the freak incident.

While another attendee was rushed to hospital after losing some of his fingers.

The event took place in Antioch, California.

But there is good news for former Steelers man Harris, who did not suffer any major injuries.

His agent Doug Hendrickson released a statement confirming he was present when the accident occurred.

However, Harris escaped with just a "superficial" injury to his eye.

And the star is expected to be fit for the start of the new NFL season.

The statement read: "Najee Harris was present at a 4th of July event where a fireworks mishap resulted in injuries to several attendees.

"Najee sustained a superficial eye injury during the incident.

"But he is fully expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season."
