Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren around going round and round in a new music video for the highly anticipated Broadway revival of The Last Five Years.
The two actors sing a bittersweet duet about the demise of a romance in "Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You," the emotional climax of the beloved musical from three-time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown.
Filmed at the famed Jane's Carousel in Brooklyn, New York on the edge of the Hudson River, the video captures Jonas and Warren as their characters fall in and out of love.
The Last Five Years follows the demise of a relationship between a rising novelist named Jamie (Jonas, 32) and a struggling actress named Cathy (Warren, 37), across two different timelines. His perspective is told in chronological order from when the couple first got together, while hers is told in reverse, from the end of their marriage.
"Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You" is the only moment in the musical where the characters' timelines converge and they sing the same lyrics in the same moment. But both are coming from a completely different perspective — Cathy's optimistic "Goodbye Until Tomorrow" in striking contrast to Jamie's regretful "I Could Never Rescue You."

The limited-run production is currently set to play for just 14 weeks, through June 22.
Not only will The Last Five Years mark a return to the boards for both Jonas and Warren — he, last in 2012's How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and she, as a 2021 Tony winner for her portrayal of Tina Turner in Tina, based on the music icon's life — it will also mark the first time The Last Five Years has ever been on Broadway.

A year later, a New York City production starring Norbert Leo Butz and Sherie Rene Scott premiered off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theater.
That cast recording helped The Last Five Years become a favorite among the musical-theater crowd, with songs from the show — including "Nobody Needs to Know," "Still Hurting," "If I Didn't Believe in You" and "The Next Ten Minutes" — becoming industry staples over the years.
An off-Broadway revival at New York City's Second Stage Theater came in 2013, with Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe in the roles of Jamie and Cathy. Two years later, a movie adaptation was released starring Jeremy Jordan and Anna Kendrick.
In 2016, a one-night-only concert of the musical was staged at New York City's Town Hall, led by Joshua Henry and Cynthia Erivo.
That same year, a production of The Last Five Years opened in London led by Bridgerton and Wicked star Jonathan Bailey and Samantha Barks, a breakout of the 2012 Les Misérables film.

But the the time is right for Broadway. In fact, when the production was first announced back in June 2024, it came almost exactly 25 years to the date after Brown wrote the first song for The Last Five Years (June 15, 1999).
"I have always believed that when the time was right, The Last Five Years would make its way to Broadway," Brown said in a statement at the time.
He added, "To have Nick and Adrienne taking on these roles is a composer's dream come true, and to have Whitney's extraordinary guidance and vision is the hope of every playwright. It has taken 25 years, but the time is right."
