WENDY’S has confirmed a major change for later this summer that marks the end of an era.

Consumers could see some differences at their local restaurant in the near future as a result.

Effective July 18, CEO Kirk Tanner will be stepping down at Wendy’s, per CNBC.

He will instead be helming The Hershey Company, which takes effect a month later on August 18.

Tanner has only been at Wendy’s for about a year and a half, taking over in February 2024 after more than 30 years at PepsiCo.

He replaces Michele Buck, who will retire after eight years as CEO of The Hershey Company and over two decades at the company.

Buck had announced her retirement plans earlier this year and is set to remain an advisor until the end of 2025.

Wendy’s CFO Ken Cook will step up to take Tanner’s place for the brief period between July and August as interim CEO.

Cook has held his position since 2024, similar to Tanner, and previously worked in senior positions at UPS.

The fast food chain still has yet to find a permanent replacement for Tanner.

The US Sun has contacted Wendy’s for more information.
